 There is plenty of Big Band music productions found in the NDR music archives. It is definitely worth listening to some of it again after a longer period of time. I was excited about what I heard and decided to compile and publish the best versions of my creations as well as three additional compositions, in which I was able to set some accents as a solo artist. - Reiner Winterschladen

The "Carmina Burana" are a manuscript of songs from around 1230 which contains European repertoire of  the 12th and 13th century. What particularly distinguishes Carmina Burana is a kaleidoscopic versatility of genres and a wonderfully imaginative intermingling of light and heavy repertoire, of the banal and the serious, of dance and contemplative songs, of loud and soft. Today one would say this collection covers a spectrum from serious music to light music.

 These recordings are a rarity as well as an important milestone along my own life’s path. They were recorded at a small festival in the backcountry near Cologne in 1997.  Years later I have come back to this artifact (thanks, Corona!) The music has a natural flow yet one feels the intensity and alertness of each musician.
